Day-by-day itinerary

  1. Day 1
    Arrive Lamu
    Fly to Manda airstrip, boat transfer across the channel to your Old Town or Shela guesthouse.
  2. Day 2
    Old Town
    Guided walking tour of the lanes, carved doors and Lamu Museum, sunset from the seafront.
  3. Day 3
    Swahili kitchen & dhow yards
    Morning Swahili cooking class, afternoon boat to Matondoni village to watch dhows built by hand.
  4. Day 4
    Takwa ruins & Shela
    Dhow across to the 15th-century Takwa ruins on Manda Island, late afternoon on Shela Beach.
  5. Day 5
    Departure
    Morning at leisure, boat to the airstrip and fly back to Nairobi.
